Traumatic brain injury is an injury to the brain caused by physical trauma resulting from, but not limited to, car accidents and falls, and assaults. RCW 74.31.010. A brain injury can also occur as a result of repeated head injuries and concussions.
Traumatic brain injury can cause a wide range of functional changes affecting thinking, sensation, language, or emotions. It can also cause epilepsy and increase the risk for conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and other brain disorders that become more prevalent with age. The impact of a traumatic brain injury on the individual and family can be devastating. RCW 74.31.005
THE FOLLOWING ARE SYMPTOMS OF POSSIBLE HEAD INJURY SYNDROME:
Headache, Dizziness, Visual problems, Fatigue, Sleep Disturbance, Increased Sensitivity to: Noise and Lights, Weight Changes, Loss of senses, Ringing in the ears, Impaired concentration, Impaired memory, Language problems, Reduced performance rate, Reduced efficiency, Irritability, Mood Swings, Depression, Anxiety, and Loss of sex drive.
